"The Evolution of the War Between Small Business and Big Tech Online: A Case Study"
Thursday, February 27, 2020
Joanne Stoner founded eDressMe.com, one of the first companies to sell women’s clothing online. She fought against the common wisdom that no one would buy clothing over the Internet. A graduate of Harvard Business School, she grew the company to 15 million shoppers per month and sold it to a major department store. She has appeared on the “Today Show” and created fashion segments for ABC’s “The View.” She’s been quoted in numerous publications including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and USA Today.
Internationally, she was the chairman of the board of iFab in Moscow, Russia, where she led the transformation of a brick and mortar furniture store into a successful home furnishings e-commerce company. She has a long history in fashion and technology. She was vice president of marketing for 4R Systems, director of e-commerce for Lucent Technologies as well as a manager at Liz Claiborne and a buyer at Saks Fifth Avenue in NYC. She currently runs Stoner Hanick Consulting, advising start-ups.
