SOLD OUT!!!!!!! THE EDUCATION I DID AND DIDN'T GET AT HARVARD/MIT

Bill Koch--a graduate of MIT--has said he relishes "teaching" his Harvard peers. Koch's interests and expertise are wide-ranging, but most recently his focus has been on education, having established a college preparatory academy in WPB.

An engineer by training, Koch graduated with a bachelors of science, a master's, and a doctoral degree in chemical engineering, all from MIT. After leaving Koch Industries, he became the founder and president of the Oxbow Group. He is an avid sailor and collector of maritime and Western memorabilia. Koch won the America's Cup in 1992 with the yacht America.

Several years ago, he made the decision to create Oxbridge Academy, pledging $50-million to support his vision of experiential learning. Located on the former site of the Jewish Community Center on Military Trail in WPB, the co-ed high school opened in the fall of 2011. Its emphasis is on the development of critical thinking skills across a wide range of disciplines. The school was named as one of only six schools around the world to host a Julliard Jazz Summer 2013 Workshop. And its Computer Science Team was the only Florida team in its division to qualify for nationals. A diverse student body, admitted on merit and personal drive, has been ensured by generous need-based financial aid.
