An Insider's View of Putin

Allen Lynch, a former fellow at Harvard, and a leading expert on Putin and the US-Soviet relationship today will be speaking on his analysis of the situation in Russia and the Ukraine.
 
Currently, Lynch is a professor at the Woodrow Wilson Department of Politics at the University of Virginia, where he teaches international relations and Russian studies.  In addition to his teaching and research at Virginia, he was director of research at the University's Center for International Studies during 2010 and 2012. He has written extensively on the former Soviet Union and Russia-US relations; in 2011, he published an interpretive biography of Vladimir Putin, "Vladimir Putin and Russian Statecraft" (Potomac Books).
 
From 1988 to 2012, Lynch was Executive Vice President of the Feris Foundation  of America; in this pro bono capacity, he helped to raise and disburse more than $1 million in Albert Gallatin Fellowships in International Affairs.  He received his doctorate in political science from Columbia University in 1984.
