It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 41st Anniversary Year of the Harvard Club of the Palm Beaches! We invite you to join in this very special alumni organization dedicated to fellowship, cultural enrichment, networking, and service to our local community. Because of your engagement, last year was an exceptional year for our Club, as we doubled membership, expanded activity to three events per month, helped get a record number of students admitted to the College, and put the Club on more sound financial footing.
The regular dues rate (cut in half last year in honor of the 40th Anniversary) will be maintained at $50.00 this year. We sincerely appreciate your support of the Club as we continue to grow our membership base and expand the county-wide geography over which we plan to offer unique, stimulating events. Your annual dues support the Club’s modest administrative costs, cover the costs of all planned events, and serve as the Club’s sole source of support.
This year’s events calendar includes:
Monthly luncheons at Charley’s Crab on Palm Beach; may be expanded to additional locations in South & North County
Monthly, informal “Crimson Conversations” talks by prominent Harvard alumni from our region
Monthly “Main Stage” events, including:
+ Annual viewing party of the 134rd Harvard-Yale football game
+ The signature Holiday Party at the National Croquet Center
+ Two “Global Networking Night” events
+ Discussion by nationally prominent Harvard University professors and/or alumni on timely topic
+ “Harvard Night” at the Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts (alternatively @ The Wick Theatre)
+ Miniature golf + cocktail reception at the South Florida Science Center & Aquarium
+ Supplemental events (co)-hosted by the regional Clubs of Miami-Dade and Broward Counties
Ongoing support of the College’s “Admissions Season” via Alumni interviews, college fairs, and “post-admit meet-ups”
Please check the Club’s website regularly for updates regarding new events (http://hcpalmbeaches.clubs.harvard.edu/ ). Suggestions aimed at making the Club better are always welcome; please contact any of the Club’s Officers or our Club Administrator.
The Schools Committee continues its diligent work of interviewing candidates for admission and representing Harvard at college fairs to provide unique perspectives to prospective applicants. Members interested in serving as alumni interviewers are always welcome as the number of applicants to the College continues to grow. Club Members also award the Harvard Prize Book to outstanding juniors at schools countywide (this tradition relies upon the support of Members' generous donations).
The Harvard Club of the Palm Beaches depends upon members, both new and longstanding, to ensure the continued vitality of the Club. Club membership offers a unique manner in which to stay in touch with the University, reminisce about your time in Cambridge, and connect with other regional alumni. The Club’s website makes joining and renewing your membership hassle-free, and you can make reservations for and render payment for the Club’s events via the website as well. We welcome your membership and participation whether you reside in South Florida permanently or on a part-time basis. We hope to enjoy the pleasure of your company this year!
