It’s an exciting time to be a member of the Harvard Club of the Palm Beaches! Our Club was formed over 40 years ago to promote Harvard’s values of service, education, and leadership. Our goals also include providing alumni with opportunities to connect with Harvard and impact the local community.
We have planned a busy 2018-2019 schedule of events and our board and executive committee invite you to join us at our many varied activities including our monthly events. We have a monthly luncheon in mid-County at Bistro 1001 at the Marriott on Okeechobee in West Palm Beach. While we are saddened at Charley’s Crab closure and the many memories and friendships established there, we look forward to beginning a new chapter in our Club’s history. In addition, we are beginning a south County luncheon at Novello in Boca Raton on the third Thursday every month. Crimson Conversations is entering its third year, where educational, political, and business leaders offer stimulating presentations on a variety of topics. As always, our Holiday Party will sell out – so be on the lookout for announcement on a date and ticket availability. We encourage all Harvard alumni in the area to consider this exceptional opportunity to stay in touch with the University, reminisce about your time in Cambridge, and connect with other regional alumni.
I would be remiss if I didn’t take this opportunity to thank our Club’s Immediate-Past President, Rhys Williams, on the incredible job he did the last two years doubling membership, expanding activities, increasing awareness in the community to see a record number of applicants to the College, and putting the Club on more sound financial footing. His role as a volunteer was critical to keeping everyone connected to each other and to the University. Rhys, your efforts and enthusiasm are greatly appreciated. In addition to Rhys’s efforts, we also say “see you soon” to Sandra Arber. Her efforts as Club Administrator were Herculean as well. She brought us into the digital age with our Club’s website and member interaction.
Club Members also award the Harvard Prize Book to outstanding juniors at schools countywide (this tradition relies upon the support of Members' generous donations). The Schools Committee continues its diligent work of interviewing candidates for admission and representing Harvard at college fairs to provide unique perspectives to prospective applicants. It is because of your continued support of our Club that we are able to continue to make strides for the future alumni of Harvard University.
Finally, and most importantly, remember that the Club Website is an ongoing resource for you. Please check the Club’s website regularly for updates regarding new events – http://hcpalmbeaches.clubs.harvard.edu/
Suggestions aimed at making the Club better are always welcome; please feel free to contact our new Club Administrator, Tricia Wansor, at any time with questions or concerns.
