Dr. Nicholas Papanicolaou
“Dialogue of Civilizations”
The presentation will be in-person and also broadcast on Zoom for those who cannot or prefer not to gather in person.
The World Policy Forum “Dialogue of Civilizations” (WPF-DC) was founded in Vienna, Austria, in 2002, with the purpose of bringing together 600+ VIP delegates from more than 60 countries for an annual four-day conference on the island of Rhodes, Greece, to discuss intercultural and interreligious issues. Delegates included prime ministers, kings, and presidents, along with academicians, university professors, and international religious leaders from all faiths.
The WPF-DC operated continually from 2002 to 2019 (except in 2020 and 2021 due to the global pandemic, and in 2022 due to Russia’s war against Ukraine). The WPF was co-founded by Vladimir Yakunin, chairman of Russian Railways and dean of Moscow State University School of International Relations; Dr. Jagdish Kapur, world-renowned humanist and intercultural expert from India; and Dr. Nicholas F. Papanicolaou of the United States.
We are fortunate to have Dr. Papanicolaou to share his experiences from the WPF-DC’s 18-year tenure. Come hear his stories of meeting Mahmoud Abbas of the Palestinian Authority, Fidel Castro, leaders of the Council of Europe and others. His comments on the oft-hidden motivations of world figures, and the significant contributions made by Harvard-trained graduates toward progress on global issues (using the unique “soft power” of non-governmental organizations), are both entertaining and insightful. We hope you will join us.
