Miguel Sancho, who holds a BA from Harvard, will speak about his decades in the television news and documentary business and the life-changing events that turned his world upside down—for the better.
Twenty years into a successful journalism career in New York City, Miguel had amassed a treasure trove of wild and unforgettable experiences in the field—first working as an undercover hidden camera producer for Inside Edition during the Golden Age of Tabloid, then as an investigative producer at major news networks covering everything from the Iraq Wars to the OJ Simpson Trial to the Church of Scientology. He was living the dream—traveling around the world, winning awards, and hobnobbing with boldface names.
Then it all fell apart: his son Sebastian was diagnosed with a rare and lethal disease, a catastrophe which not only threatened his baby's life but very nearly derailed both Miguel's career and his marriage. The crisis required a degree of sustained perseverance and introspection that inspired Miguel to write a book, "More Than You Can Handle," which was published by Penguin in 2021.
Miguel will speak on his experiences as both a journalist and a rare-disease parent. Spoiler alert—there's a happy ending!
