This interview looks at debanking in the United States as an immediate operating risk for anyone running a business, nonprofit, or professional organization. It shows how routine actions (accepting certain payments, working with international partners, serving on boards, holding a second passport, or triggering a compliance review) can lead to frozen or closed bank accounts that disrupt payroll, donations, and daily operations. The discussion focuses on how these decisions are made inside banks, why they are increasingly common, and what leaders need to understand now to protect continued access to basic banking services.
 

About our speaker

Jorge Jraissati is the President of the Economic Inclusion Group, an organization whose mission is to advise policymakers and business leaders on economic and financial policy. EIG specializes in issues ranging from the rise of debanking practices in the United States to the reconstruction of the Venezuelan economy.  

Jorge's policy recommendations have been supported by dozens of lawmakers in the United States and Europe. He is often invited to speak about his expertise by governments and international institutions, from Washington to Davos. Jorge also publishes frequently at media outlets like The Wall Street Journal, Fox Business and National Review.   

Jorge's academic research has been published by multiple universities and international organizations. He holds degrees from the Wilkes Honors College of Florida Atlantic University, IESE Business School, and is currently completing a master's degree in finance at Harvard University.
